Shri Om Japo is a beautiful invocation of Divine Shakti and Shiva together — "Shri," the Shakti, and "Om," the Shiva, as one. The mukhda, "Shri Om Japo, Shiv Naam Japo," returns again and again like a meditation, drawing the listener inward.
The heart of the bhajan is the line "jeev mein Shiv hai, vishwa mein Shiv hai" — Shiva is within every living being, and Shiva is within the entire universe. The same divine vibration that exists in the cosmos exists within us. To chant the name is to awaken that vibration.
The antras remember Shiva in his many forms — Neelkanth, who held poison in his throat to save the world; Bhasm Ramaiya, smeared in sacred ash; the holder of the Ganga in his matted locks; and Nataraj, whose cosmic dance moves all of creation. Through these images the bhajan asks for shakti ka sanchar — the flow of divine energy — and for the welfare of all beings in this age.
The words of this bhajan came in sadhana. They were not written to teach anyone, and not to preach. They are simply how the divine resonated within.
I do not teach anything. I hold only a simple understanding — where there is a problem, there is also a solution.
About this bhajan I would say only this — listen to it with a still mind. If you feel a shift in your energy, an uplifting of your mood — then stay. And if you do not, that too is well.
Someone's thirst is quenched by the Ganga, someone's by the Yamuna — both are pure, both are true. This is simply one door; walk through it only if it is yours.
The lyrics of Shri Om Japo were written by Aryaa Maharaj (Aryaman Agarwal), who also lends his voice to the bhajan. The music was composed by Bappaaditya.
"Shri Om Japo" is a beautiful invocation of Divine Shakti and Shiva together — "Shri" the Shakti, "Om" the Shiva, as one. The bhajan carries this into the understanding that the same divine vibration dwells in every being and in all creation — jeev mein Shiv hai, vishwa mein Shiv hai.
